When I was flipping through Imaginary Friends by Karolina Kubikowska, my eye kept being drawn to this adorable scene, even though I’m positively TERRIFIED of coloring people- I’ve never successfully colored hair or skin before. But as it kept calling to me, I impulsively decided to bite the bullet and tear this page out so I could color it!

This originally started as a salvage mission: the page had gotten damaged by some washi tape in the top and bottom left corner, but then became something more!

This gorgeous page comes from Halloween by Hanna Karlzon and was one of the main reasons I had to get this book the minute it came out! I followed a tutorial on neocolor II’s for the background and used my Black Widow and Castle Arts Harmonious colored pencils for the portrait.

This marked my first time working with masking fluid and unfortunately- it wasn’t a huge success. The paper tore quite a bit after trying to gently remove the fluid and that made coloring way harder. Having said that: I’m positively STOKED that I managed to salvage the image and turned it into this lovely colored piece!
