    The Magician

I don’t think I’ve ever been more pleased with myself than now. Honestly. I just finished The Magician from World of Tarot by Alexis E. Thompson and I am obsessed!

This page started out as me overcoming my fear of this book because its pages are intricate AF and most of the elements are very realistic and once I laid down my Distress ink in the background I took off running! I wanted to give this a distinct vintage feel with soft brownish colors and to really make the card – and in particular the butterfly pop because those are the center of this piece and I feel I did a pretty good job!

I love working with Distress ink, and I really enjoyed basing with my Tombow dual brush pens. All and all, this was such a win. I worked on it off and on for approximately a month and I’m so so pleased it’s now finished and that it turned out so beautiful!

    Mediums used:

    • Background: Distress ink, distress crayons
    • Basing: Tombow dual brush pens
    • Card border and lettering: Wink of Luna
    • Pencil work: Castle Arts Harmonious and Derwent Chromaflow

Art: World of Tarot by Alexis E. Thompson

    Galaxy Butterfly

So this weekend I was at my in-laws’ place and I’d brought some coloring supplies to occupy my hands and color whenever the mood struck me. I brought Small Victories and my travel artbag which contained about 10 Inktense pencils, some Distress Crayons as well as a number of gel and paint pens.

    Leafy dinosaurs

I had so much fun playing with my tinted watercolor pencils in this image! Honestly, the muted palette doesn’t translate to photo and the background looks way better in real life.

    Vintage flower wreath

I just finished this lovely flower wreath from Small Victories and I’m absolutely obsessed with the serene colorpalette and the little details. My favorite part is the shimmering background, which was made with Distress Crayons.
